Nyzynka or Nyz' workshop - parallel-type embroidery technic

We invite you to a workshop on Nyzyzynka or Nyz' needlepoint embroidery - one of the most famous in Ukrainian embroidery technique. It comes from the ancient techniques of Ukrainian embroidery, which imitates the colorful fabric weaving. 

Nyz' is used to embroider most commonly monochrome ornaments on a dense canvas with a cotton thread or a thin woolen thread. However, there are also bright multi-colored patterns, which are embroidered stage by stage with each color, starting with the main one, which is called "rozvid" ("guiding"). 

The specialty of this technique is that it is performed on the reverse side of the canvas due to the high density of embroidery and ornamentation on the front side. This embroidery technique is most characteristic of Podillia and Hutsul region, however, it is also found in other regions of Ukraine. Nyzynka can be used for embroidering shirts and ritual cloth, as well as other accessories and decorations as far as creativity reaches. 

Come to embroider with Nyz' technique, together we will learn all the steps of it and everyone can reproduce an ornament with Nyzynka on their own.

The workshop is suitable for intermediate embroidery skill level for adults and children from 14 years old.

Майстер-клас: Низь або Низинка та інші види паралельних швів в українській вишивці 

Запрошуємо вас на воркшоп із вишивання низзю або низинкою - одним із найвідоміших в українській вишивці рахунковим швом.

Низь є однією із стародавніх технік української вишивки, яка імітує перебірне ткання. Нею вишивають на щільному полотні ниткою муліне або тонкою вовняною ниткою зазвичай монохромні орнаменти. Втім зустрічаються також і яскраві різнокольорові візерунки, які вишиваються поетапно кожним кольором починаючи із основного, що має назву “розвід”.

Особливістю цієї техніки є те, що низь виконується із зворотного боку полотна через велику щільність вишивки та орнаменту на лицьовому боці. Ця техніка вишивки найбільш характерна для Поділля та Гуцульщини, втім зустрічається також і в інших регіонах України. Низинку можна використовувати для вишивки сорочок та рушників, а також інших аксесуарів та оздоблень, на які сягне креативність.

Приходь та спробуй вишивання низзю, разом ми розберемося у техніці та кожен зможе відтворити невеликий орнамент самостійно.

Воркшоп підходить для середнього рівня навичок для дорослих та дітей з 14 років.
